Special Issuances, New Diagnosis or Aeromedical Concerns

Have you been diagnosed with a new medical condition that impacts your medical certificate? Some medical conditions require a “special issuance” issued by the Aeromedical Certification Division of the FAA to maintain your medical certificate. Examples medical conditions that require a special issuance include but are not limited to coronary artery by-pass surgery, angioplasty or stent placement, heart attack or angina, pacemaker or valve replacement, diabetes, cancer, kidney stones, sleep apnea, loss of consciousness, treatment for depression, or arrest for DUI. The special issuance process can be difficult and confusing for those unfamiliar with the process. However, I perform special issuance medicals on a routine basis. I understand what needs to be done and act as a liaison between you and the administration by working directly with the physicians at the Aeromedical Certification Division. If you have a special issuance condition, have received correspondence fro the FAA you do not understand regarding your special issuance, or you just need a confidential consultation please give me a call.
